Coming off an ACL injury from last season, the Houston Texans were looking for a viable option at the back-up position to take over the reigns in case starter DeShaun Watson went down again.

They decided to throw caution to the wind and sign 34-year-old QB Brandon Weeden.

Weeden hasn’t played in the league since 2015, as a member of the Houston Texans—where he played just three games. Weeden is the prototypical 1st round bust, but he somehow continues to find work.

Matt Barkley, Chad Henne, Brandon Weeden, Blaine Gabbert, Josh Johnson, David Fales, Tom Savage and Brock Osweiler are just a few of the subpar QB’s who have found work this offseason.

There’s a 30-year-old QB with 85 total career TDs and only 30 INTs, along with a 88.9 rating, who is still a free agent and has been that way since March of 2017. His name is Colin Kaepernick.

Should Weeden go down to injury, the Texans have another QB in Taylor Heinicke, who has thrown one NFL pass in his three years in the league. He suffered a concussion in the second series of his debut just last season.
