Le’Veon Bell is arguably the best running back in the league. In his five-year career, the Michigan State product has posted over 1,800 yards from scrimmage three times, including 2016 when he played just 12 games.
But at the same time, Bell is one of the more criticized backs in the league for his character. He addressed those critics in his new rap single “Target,” however, his lyrics only verified some of the concerns around him.

“You think if I sit out, I’ll be sluggish/
You think they won’t pay me because of drug tests.”
Here he almost tries to defend his potential holdouts, a selfish tactic used by some players to leverage more money from their teams. This has been a critique of the back for years, as his contract demands seem outlandish to a team trying to build a championship roster.
“If I don’t do what you want then you want me gone/
I’m a say you being real aggressive/
The way you switch up on me real impressive.”
Not so subtle shots at the Steelers here. His lack of subtlety has even made way to his public Twitter account this offseason.

We get it Bell, you are one of the best backs in the league and deserve to be paid as such. But consistently taking shots at your current team probably isn’t the best way to make contract negotiations smoother, especially after skipping OTAs.
