NFLPA Files Grievance Against Bengals For Refusing To Sign Eric Reid Over Anthem Protests

The NFL Players Association has filed a grievance against the Cincinnati Bengals on behalf of free agent safety Eric Reid.

The grievance claims the Bengals violated the NFL policy by trying to get Reid to to stop kneeling during the playing of the national anthem in exchange for a job.

Reid visited Cincinnati back in April to talk to the coaching staff and take a physical. However, during his visit, he also had a sit-down meeting with team owner Mike Brown. During the meeting, Brown straight up asked Reid if he would continue to kneel during the 2018 season.

The NFL currently does not have a policy that forbids players from kneeling during the national anthem. The NFLPA claims any team that uses this as a criteria for signing players is violating the collective bargaining agreement.
