A preseason audition didn’t end up working out. But after a thanks-but-no-thanks audition with the New England Patriots, wide receiver and return specialist Brandon Tate is back with the team that sent him packing during this fall’s final roster cuts.

He’s a New Orleans Saint once again.

The 30-year-old Tate was a third-round pick for the Pats following a record-setting college career at North Carolina, and spent the first two seasons of his career as a role-player in Foxborough before spending stints with the Bengals (2011-2015) and Bills (2016-2017). He has just 71 catches to his name in nearly a decade of professional football, but figures to contribute as a special teamer for the Saints, as he’s coming up on 8,000 combined return yards for his career.

That’s a lot.
