Tony Romo Says Packers Are His ‘Team to Beat’ Next Season

Is it crazy for Tony Romo to choose the Packers as the “team to beat” this season? Maybe not.

Being an analyst for CBS Sports, former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was able to take a close look at the Green Bay Packers last season. So, it makes sense that he would think this year’s team looks much better and should scare the rest of the league.

In an interview in Wisconsin, Romo named the Green Bay Packers, who finished with a 7-9 record last season, as the “team to beat” in 2018.

Out of all the teams this offseason, Romo believes that the Packers are the team that improved the most, specifically the signing of tight end Jimmy Graham. He thinks that the potential of using Graham in a two-tight end set set would make red-zone scoring automatic for the team.

“You pair him with Aaron Rodgers, you’re going to see a little bit of a different animal,” said Romo about Graham. “In the red zone, that will be almost unstoppable. If the secondary is a little bit better, I think they’re the team to beat this year.”

For sure, the Packers have made a lot of improvements this offseason, but Rodgers has to be healthy for the team to make a strong push for the playoffs. So, don’t be surprised if the Packers end up being one of the best teams in the league this season.
