The Chicago Bears have been handing out some major cash over the last week.

First, the historic franchise traded for one of the best pass-rushers in football when they acquired Khalil Mack. Then, they signed Mack to the richest defensive contract.

Now, they’ve secured of one of their own as Eddie Goldman has reportedly been locked up for the next four years.

Goldman will earn over $42 million over that span. The enormous extension makes him one of the highest paid players at his position.

The defensive tackle was selected in the second round of the 2015 draft out of Florida State. Since then, he has played in 36 games (started in 32), recording 8.5 sacks, 55 tackles and a fumble recovery.

Goldman’s contract lines up similarly to those of Corey Liuget and Brandon Williams, some pretty well-known players on the defensive line. At 24, the contract will tie him to Chicago for the majority of his prime.

The Bears have quickly put together a young and dangerous defensive team and are now ensuring that the group stays together for the foreseeable future. In a quick turn of events, the NFC North may be the most competitive division in football.
