It goes without saying that the Dallas Cowboys have undergone some major changes this offseason. However, the team’s new look does not seem to bother quarterback Dak Prescott.
In fact, it appears he has been impressed with the Cowboys’ energy in organized team activities. According to Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News, Prescott feels there is still enough leadership in the locker room:
“There’s definitely still some big voices in that locker room,” Prescott said. “There’s definitely a lot of energy in that locker room. That’s part of being a young team. It’s different, but it’s not bad. It’s actually great.
“There’s a lot of good energy. I like what we have.”
Dallas lost to of their biggest voices on the team this offseason after the retirement of tight end Jason Witten and the departure of wide receiver Dez Bryant. That said, there was some concern about the lack of veteran players to step up into that role. However, it seems the Cowboys have adjusted well to the new changes.
This is certainly encouraging for Prescott. The former Offensive Rookie of the Year is coming off a rather disappointing 2017 campaign. As a result, the Cowboys’ brass has indicated that this may be a deciding year for the young quarterback.
His chances at a bounce-back season look much more daunting given the team’s lack of a No. 1 wideout. Fortunately, the return of running back Ezekiel Elliott should take some much-needed pressure off him and the rest of the offense in the 2018 NFL season.
