The Atlanta Falcons are loading up big in the trenches on Tuesday.

According to reports, former Jets left guard James Carpenter will sign a four-year contract with the club, and Jamon Brown, a former Giants and Rams guard, will sign a three-year deal with Atlanta.

Carpenter is 29 years old and holds 97 starts in his career. While he only played 10 games last season, he never missed a game from 2015-2017.

With Carpenter’s signing, Brown figures to slot into the right guard spot while Carpenter takes care of the left guard position. Whatever the formation though, Matt Ryan and Devonta Freeman must be hyped for these Tuesday signings.

Grabbing a couple big boys up front in free agency will make running the ball up the gut a little easier for Freeman. They may not be the sexiest free-agent pickups, but don’t underestimate the impact these guys will bring to the gridiron every Sunday.

Expect more Atlanta roster turnover with these additions. Free agent guard Andy Levitre will likely not be coming back to the Falcons, and Ben Garland and Zane Beadles are also free agent linemen that could be gone in 2019.
